How do I start, change, or cancel my service?
Please call WVC&R’s Customer Service at 408-283-9250 for any service changes.
Why do I have to use WVC&R for my garbage pick-up?
WVC&R is the exclusive garbage collection provider for the cities of Campbell, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, and the Town of Los Gatos.
Does WVC&R provide side or backyard service?
WVC&R offers on-premise service for residents with disabilities for no additional charge. An application must be signed by your physician for on-premise service approval. Please contact WVC&R’s Customer Service at 408-283-9250 to have an application mailed to your residence or sent to you via e-mail.
Who do I call if my garbage, recycling, and/or organics container is not picked up? How soon should they come and get it?
For any garbage, recycling, or organics not collected on your regular service day, please contact WVC&R’s Customer Service at 408-283-9250. For missed collections reported by 1:00pm, a driver will return to service before the end of the business day.
How should I place my containers for pick-up?
Please make sure your containers are set out on the street with wheels against the curb by 6am on your collection day. Containers must be placed 2 feet away from each other and 5 feet away from any vehicles, trees, mailboxes, fire hydrants, and basketball hoops.
Can I exchange my recycling or organics container for a different size?
Yes. Please contact WVC&R’s Customer Service at 408-283-9250 for a representative to assist you with a different size. Your monthly rate will remain the same as it is based on the size of your solid waste container.
How can I find out when my weekly service is?
Please contact WVC&R’s Customer Service at 408-283-9250 for your weekly garbage, recycling, and organics services schedule. You may also download WVC&R’s mobile app “WasteConnect” to see your waste collection schedule, receive reminders about your collection day, and learn how to properly sort and discard materials.
My container is broken! Is there a charge to receive a replacement?
No, there is no charge to replace a container that is damaged due to normal wear and tear. Please contact WVC&R’s Customer Service at 408-283-9250 to schedule a replacement.
I live in a building with four or fewer units. Is that considered Multi-Family service?
No, any premise with four or fewer units is considered a “Single Family.” Please direct further questions to the “Single Family” section of the FAQs rather than the “Multi-Family” section.
What goes in each of my containers?
WVC&R mails out a free How-to Guide that lists all the items currently acceptable in each container. The guide is updated from time to time. You may also download a copy of the guide online for free at www.westvalleyrecycles.com or download WVC&R’s mobile app “WasteConnect” to learn where to dispose of specific materials.

WVC&R also offers a free e-waste drop-off site where residents can drop off items such as computer monitors, TVs, water-based paints, motor oil, and fluorescent bulbs. The safest way for residents to dispose of their propane cylinders and other Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) materials is by appointment only through Santa Clara County’s program. Please set up an appointment using HHW.org or call 408-299-7300 to request a call from a representative.

WVC&R offers a free drop-off site for e-waste items such as water based-paints, computer monitors, motor oil, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs at our Material Recovery Facility at 625 Charles Street in San Jose.
