I'm confused on some of these terms? Can you provide some definitions?
Yes! See some of our defined terms below.
"Garbage” refers to non-reusable, non-recyclable, non-hazardous materials. All of these items belong in the garbage container.
“Organics” refers to food scraps, yard trimmings, non-hazardous wood waste, and food-soiled paper. All of these items go in the organics container.
“Recycling” refers to metal, glass, paper, plastic, and electronic waste. All of these items go in the recycling container. Visit www.westvalleyrecycles.com or download WVC&R’s mobile app “WasteConnect” to learn what items are acceptable in the recycling container.
“Yard Trimmings” includes yard waste like tree branches, flowers, grass clippings, plant trimmings, and small prunings. Items may not exceed 2 feet in length or 3 inches in diameter and must fit inside the organics container.
“Food Scraps” refers to any inedible food waste which includes bones, meat, dairy, fruit, vegetables, grains, dough, coffee grounds and filters, teabags, and other plate scrapings. These items go in the organics container.
“Food-Soiled Paper” refers to paper towels, napkins, tissues, pizza boxes, paper plates and cups, paper take-out containers, and cardboard packaging. However, it does not include plastic or wax-lined paper products such as milk cartons or ice cream containers. These items go in the organics container.
